Albury Wodonga Health partners with private healthcare providers to deliver innovative and evidence-based cancer care to both public and private patients.

Border Medical Oncology and Haematology - Founded in 1998, this is a specialist medical practice dedicated to the treatment of malignant diseases (cancers) as well as non-malignant haematology disorders. They are a leading regional centre for cancer care and have a commitment to clinical trials and improving cancer outcomes for regional patients.  For more information please see here.

The Border Cancer Hospital - Operated by Ramsay Health Care and located within the Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre facility, the cancer hospital treats both public and private patients.  The hospital is split over two levels encompassing a 30 bed acute inpatient oncology ward and a 28 chair day oncology unit.  For more information please see here.

GenesisCare Albury Wodonga - Situated on the ground floor of Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre their experienced doctors and expert teams use a range of contemporary radiation therapy techniques to provide patients the best in cancer care.  For more information please see here.

The Border Cancer Hospital Dispensary -  Part of Ramsay Health Care, they provide the full suite of pharmacy services including patient dispensing, clinical services, sterile and non-sterile manufacturing, drug information and clinical trial support.

The not-for-profit Border Medical Oncology Research Unit was established in 1998, and to date this unit has been involved in over 350 clinical trials with over 2,000 patients recruited. Currently 85 trials are active, including 48 trials that are currently open to enrolment.

There are 20 trials currently in the process of opening. In 2020, 160 patients consented to participate in a trial. In 2019 - 128 consented and in 2018 -142. Types of studies range from surveys to preventative studies to phase I, II and III trials for treatment for medical oncology and haematology, adjuvant and metastatic cancers.

Border Medical Oncology Research Unit has twice been awarded NSW Premier’s Award for innovation in Cancer Clinical Trials. In 2019 the unit was awarded $18.6 million to undertake critical cancer-related clinical trials in regional Victoria. The funding from the Australian Government's Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) will go to the Regional Victorian Trials Alliance, Linkages, Special populations, Equity (ReViTALISE) Program and will run over five years. The project involves eight Clinical Research Sites in Regional Victoria and partners with Metropolitan specialists and academics to deliver a number of projects specific to regional and rural health care needs.

AWH Cancer Care Coordinators are specialist nurses who provide support, resources and information to you, your family and support person throughout your cancer journey.

An individual’s experience of cancer is unique and needs may differ. You may have questions regarding treatments, tests, concerns or how the health system works.

AWH Cancer Care Coordinators support you by:

• Helping you to understand your disease and treatment options
  
• Coordinating care and making appropriate referrals to other services such as allied health or palliative care
• Providing emotional support including information about support groups and services available in the area
• Guiding you to the financial and practical supports that may be available for you and your family.

Patients and carers are encouraged to contact the Cancer Care Coordinators for more information.

Working in partnership with your treating team, Cancer Council Liaison help support you and your family. They can provide reliable, evidence based information and connect you with relevant practical and emotional support services throughout your cancer journey.

Hilltop Accommodation Centre provides patients and their carers with comfortable and affordable accommodation close to the Albury Base Hospital, Albury Wodonga Cancer Centre and other local treatment centres.

From the time of diagnosis, and throughout treatment, McGrath Breast Care Nurses inform, organise, empower and support people with breast cancer 

No cancer treatment is without its challenges, but this is where they can help. They listen, guide and support people with breast cancer, and their families, every day through meaningful conversations, advice and quality care.

A McGrath Breast Care Nurse builds an important relationship with each person they support. They become a trusted, consistent and knowledgeable point of contact. As professional and qualified nurses they care for people with both early and metastatic breast cancer.

Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre McGrath Nurses also run a SOZO lymphedema assessment clinic.

A diagnosis of prostate cancer can be a very stressful time for men and their loved ones. Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia support a team of Prostate Cancer Specialist Nurses around Australia.

The AWRCC Prostate Cancer Specialist Nurse can be contacted by you at any stage during or after treatment. They can help by providing reliable information about your diagnosis and treatment options, care and support to help manage the side effects of treatment as well as help accessing community services and support groups.
