The Ovens Murray Mental Health Alcohol and Drug Alliance (OMMHADA or the Alliance)

The Ovens Murray Mental Health Alcohol and Drug Alliance (OMMHADA or the Alliance) is a service network of mental health and drug and alcohol providers (and general community organisations) based in northeast Victoria and southern NSW.

The Alliance emerged through the 2020 bushfire response and recovery efforts. OMMHADA exists to draw together primary, secondary and tertiary mental health, alcohol and other drug, and wellbeing services in identified Local Government Areas (LGAs) within North East Victoria (Ovens Murray Region) and South East New South Wales (Murray and Murrumbidgee Region). This forum will enable a strategic approach to the deliver collaborative and joined-up work and care for individuals, families, and community groups across the region. The Alliance provides regional leadership and advocates to all levels of Government to ensure local service gaps, needs, and successes are known, funded, and fit for purpose within the region.

Aim

The aim of OMMHADA is to ensure initiatives are localised, co-designed, co-delivered and all actions support knowledge, equity of access and capacity building in local communities to:

· prevent mental illness and psychosocial distress, and

· prevent harm from substance misuse and addiction,

· support recovery from mental illness, psychosocial distress and substance misuse,
