OUR COVID-19 VISITOR POLICY HAS CHANGED AS OF 6/02/2023

Albury Wodonga Health Visitor Information
 

Albury Wodonga Health acknowledges that the COVID-19 has had a significant impact upon our broader community. In order to minimise the transmission of COVID-19, a rigorous visiting procedure has been introduced to keep our patients, families, staff and community safe.
 
If you are unsure if you can visit a loved one, please speak to a Nurse Unit Manager. They are always available to discuss any concerns. We advise to call prior to arriving to ensure you can visit.

Vaccination requirements:

All visitors will be no longer required to provide evidence of  Covid-19 vaccinations.

Masks:  

All visitors must wear a surgical mask when visiting AWH. This is essential to ensure you, your loved ones  and our team are safe.  We understand there is always exceptional circumstances so please discuss with the individual ward or department.

Permitted Visitors

All patients within AWH are eligible to receive:
 

  • Visitor numbers are two (2) in the morning and two (2) in the afternoon (total of four (4) visitors per patient per day). 

Density limits and screening processes will be maintained. Local ward staff to ensure density limits are adhered to in shared rooms.

Visiting Hours

11.00am - 1.00pm (morning visiting)
5.00pm  - 8.00pm (afternoon visiting)

Rest periods remain from 1pm-3pm, with visiting hours recommencing from 5pm.

Please note that there are no visiting time limits for essential care giving supporting patient safety e.g. providing clinical history, interpreter or language support, learning discharge care (e.g. patient with a cognitive impairment, dementia, disability or other condition whereby physical or psychological wellbeing/safety at risk) and for the nominated person of a patient under the Mental Health Act.

Visiting guidelines for Blackwood, will be in accordance with Beechworth Health’s current visiting policy (Ph: 03 5728 0200)

Albury Wodonga Health facility entry points 

To keep our community, patients and hospital environments safe, all visitors will be required to enter our facilities via designated entry points:

  • Albury Hospital via the main entrance (front reception) and the Emergency Department after hours only.
  • Wodonga Hospital via the main entrance (front reception) or Maternity main entrance if a designated maternity visitor only and via Emergency Departments after hours.
  • For services other than hospital admission (outpatient), visitors will enter via the above entrances and the Wodonga Community Rehabilitation Centre, Vermont Street entrance as required
  • All other sites, including mental health facilities, access is via front reception only.

Visitor Screening Procedure

All visitors will be asked a series of COVID-19 related questions, have their temperature checked and details recorded upon arrival to the various Albury Wodonga Health facilities.

Individual’s must not visit anyone in a hospital or care facility, even if they are on the allowed to visit list, if they:

  • have been diagnosed with COVID-19 and have not completed 7-day self-isolation
  • have had known contact with a person who has COVID-19 in the previous 7 days
  • have been tested for COVID-19 and have not had the results given to them
  • have returned to Australia from overseas in the last 14 days
  • have a temperature higher than 37.5 degrees or symptoms of infection such as: 
    • breathing difficulties such as breathlessness  
    • cough 
    • sore throat 
    • runny nose
    • aches/pains
    • diarrhoea/vomiting
    • loss of sense of smell/taste 

All permitted visitors aged 8 and above must wear a surgical mask.

The Hydrotherapy Pool at the Albury campus is closed and will remain so until further notice.
