Hume Access to Care will deliver a new patient flow, access and bed management system called Miya.

Miya will provide a new regional Access and Flow System and Remote Patient Monitoring for all Hume Health Services. Hume Access to Care is being delivered by Hume Rural Health Alliance. 

TECHNICAL IMPLEMENTATION: 7 NOVEMBER 2024

The Miya platform will bring many benefits to AWH, including:

  • A real time bed management system that provides visibility of patients and bed availability including:
    • Confirmation of bed allocation
    • Time beds are ready for patient transfer       
    • Patient waiting transfer to a different ward or campus
    • Visual identification of outlier patients in wards
    • Current Length of Stay (LoS)
  • Reduced need for bed managers to make phone calls following up bed readiness
  • A Flow system that will be available to all wards for access to electronic patient journey board (ePJB)
  • Improved display of discharge preparation and tracking including:
    • Referral tracking
    • Estimated discharge date (EDD) (+/- days)
    • Medical and Pharmacy readiness
    • Waiting for what (W4W)
    • Good to go (G2G)
  • Easier ability for Allied Health to view their internal referrals

All wards in Albury that use the current Patient Flow Portal and electronic Patient Journey Boards (ePJB) will be upgraded to the new Miya platform.

Wards in Wodonga and Kerferd will also have full access to this new tool, as well as getting the IT infrastructure to have ePJBs.


Emergency Departments

The timing for using Miya Flow (the electronic Patient Journey Board) in Albury ED and Wodonga ED will be determined by when these departments have a clear understanding of how Miya will impact workflows in relation to EDIS and A&E iPM. It is anticipated that use of the ePJB will likely occur with in the first few weeks.



2 October 2024 - Key User Training

3 October 2024 - User Acceptance Testing (UAT) 

17 October 2024 – Second round of UAT begins 

24 October 2024 – End user training begins

7 November 2024 – Albury wards will go live with Miya Flow ePJB

11 November 2024 - Wodonga wards Acute and In-Patient Rehab/Gem will start using Miya Flow ePJB. Soon after Maternity/Birth Suite/ Special Care Nursery will start using Miya Flow ePJB.
