About the Project

The Australian, New South Wales, and Victorian governments have jointly committed $558 million to significantly enhance healthcare services for the Albury, Wodonga, and border communities. This transformative investment will address current and future health needs through the delivery of a new multi-storey clinical services building and upgrades to existing facilities at Albury Wodonga Health.

The AWRH Project Team is working to deliver benefits through a structured approach involving:

  • Strategic planning and governance alignment across jurisdictions.

  • Stakeholder engagement with clinicians, community members, and government partners.

  • Integrated design, construction, change management, operational commissioning and ICT commissioning.

This redevelopment marks a major milestone in regional healthcare investment, ensuring high-quality, accessible services for generations to come. The Capital Redevelopment team is proud to be involved in this once in a lifetime opportunity for the Albury-Wodonga region.

Meet the team:

Susan Medlin – Project Director
As Project Director, my role is to provide guidance and to support the team to achieve their goals and objectives, ensuring integration in a highly complex and high-profile project.

This is my third major hospital redevelopment, and I know that this project will deliver an amazing outcome for staff, patients and the community.  It is the first step in investing in the future on both sides of the river for the border community.  The new facilities will be contemporary; purpose built and will build to support new models of care and a healing environment.

Brooke Parry – Operational Commissioning Manager
Responsible to work with our AWH teams to ensure they are operationally ready to safely transition and deliver services within the new hospital building.
I’m excited to part of the AWRHP, delivering a contemporary hospital that will expand services and improve access to care and providing a welcoming, safe, and therapeutic space for our patients, families, and staff.

Ardleigh Villangonzalo – Project Support Officer
Responsible for providing administrative support to ensure the smooth progression of the project, including coordinating meetings, managing documentation, communication with various stakeholders, tracking progress and financial reporting.

After my pregnant daughter moved to Albury in 2020, I was very worried because we don’t know anyone in the region that I could reach out to in case she needed assistance.  The moment I heard about the $558 million budget to build a hospital in the region; I felt an immediate surge of excitement.  I’ve already been keeping an eye out for opportunities to join the team’s impactful role to the region – even if it means contributing in a voluntary capacity.  I do not consider my role as administrative only.  I am building a hospital for my grandchildren, giving me peace of mind that they will be taken care of when I’m gone.  That there will be a hospital within their reach (not having to travel to Melbourne where my children are born) that can service like any hospital in Sydney or Melbourne.

Anthony Willison - ICT Program Manager
Responsible for the delivery of technology that supports our models of care, and improving the digital experiences of our staff, patients and other consumers.
Having the opportunity to implement exciting new technology that has a direct benefit to our staff and patients, and where possible leveraging the capital redevelopment project to improve the digital ecosystem across the entire organisation.

Donna Scammell - Change Manager
As Change Manager, I collaborate with staff and community stakeholders to identify and implement change opportunities that will support patient-centred health care within the new hospital building.
I’m excited to be part of a project that will deliver new facilities and processes to enhance access to care across our region. These improvements will support better health outcomes now and into the future—bringing higher quality healthcare to our community.

Rod Sutcliffe – Senior Planner
My role as the Senior Planner consists of dealing with the on-site construction activities to minimise impacts on hospital operations and facilitate business continuity.
To be part of the project that will deliver improved health services to the region.
