Albury Wodonga Health welcomes Interim Board Chair

Albury Wodonga Health has welcomed the appointment of Therese Tierney OAM as Interim Board Chair by the Minister for Health.
Ms Tierney has been appointed to provide stability and support to Albury Wodonga Health. She will lead the Board while the Department of Health undertakes its recruitment process for an ongoing Board Chair.
She is also well known to Albury Wodonga Health, having served as a Ministerial Delegate on the Board, where she worked closely with the organisation during a significant period of change.
Ms Tierney brings more than 40 years of experience across the Australian health sector, including as a health service CEO, board chair, director and adviser. Her experience spans public and private healthcare, governance, organisational improvement, strategic planning and risk management.
Chief Executive Officer Susan Delroi said Ms Tierney's appointment will provide valuable continuity and experience for the health service.
"Therese brings a wealth of health sector leadership and governance experience, along with an understanding of Albury Wodonga Health, our workforce and our communities."
"Importantly, she already knows our organisation and the opportunities and challenges facing regional healthcare, having lived and worked in regional Victoria her whole life. Ms Tierney said she was pleased to be returning to AWH.

Ms Delroi also acknowledged the contribution of Deputy Board Chair Angela Verde, who has served as Acting Board Chair since 1 July 2026.
"Angela has provided valuable continuity and support during this transition period, and I thank her for the leadership she has shown in taking on the responsibilities of Acting Board Chair. I look forward to continuing to work closely with Angela as Deputy Board Chair."
The appointment supports continuity of governance while the Department of Health completes its recruitment process for an ongoing Board Chair.
