Community invited to help shape Albury Wodonga Health’s new Disability Action Plan
Wednesday, 22 April 2026 / Albury Wodonga Health
Albury Wodonga Health is inviting people with lived experience of disability, along with families, carers and community members, to help shape its new Disability Action Plan.
The plan will outline practical actions to improve access, inclusion and experience for people with disability across AWH services, environments and workplaces.
AWH Disability Liaison Officer , Clare Evans, said meaningful community input was essential to developing a plan that reflects local needs.
“People with disability are the experts in their own experience,” Ms. Evans said.
“Listening to their voices helps us better understand the real barriers people face and how we can remove them in a way that is practical, respectful and inclusive.”
Around one in five Australians live with disability, with 7-8% of people living with a severe disability in Albury-Wodonga, making accessibility and inclusion a core responsibility for AWH.
AWH Chief Allied Health Officer Alana Jacob said the Disability Action Plan would guide how the organisation approaches disability related work across all areas of the health service.
“Our Disability Action Plan is foundational to how we design care, communicate with our community and support our workforce,” she said.
“It is about creating an environment where people feel welcome, supported and confident accessing our services.”
Community members are encouraged to complete the consultation survey available via the Your Say AWH. Feedback will directly inform the actions included in the plan.
“This is an opportunity for our community to influence real change,” Ms Evans said.
“Every response helps ensure our services are designed with inclusion in mind from the start.”
Consultation is open now and will close at 11.59pm, Sunday, 10 May 2026.
