Following early consultation undertaken with staff, key stakeholders and the community between April and June this year, the project team have been busy preparing the master plan for our new hospital.

Master planning is an important first step in the hospital planning and design process that sets the vision and high-level framework for future development at the Albury Hospital campus.

The master plan outlines where clinical services and buildings will be located at the site, identifies zones for parking and site infrastructure, and maps out how the hospital can be refurbished and expanded to meet the growing health service needs of the community.

The feedback collected during early consultation helped the project team better understand staff and community interests which included feedback on parking, access and public transport, the hospital’s building design and location within the Albury campus, and employment and training opportunities.

Building on this feedback, workshops with Albury Wodonga Health staff, senior clinicians, clinical planning specialists, architects, local councils and key government agencies have been undertaken over the past several months to further develop and refine the master plan.

Consultation with the local Aboriginal community continues to inform preparation of the Connecting with Country approach for the redevelopment, with a second round of design jams planned this week with local Aboriginal Elders and community members at the hospital.

The next step in the planning process is to share the master plan with staff and the broader community as part of a consultation campaign, once it is complete.
