Celebrating Allied Health at AWH: Stronger together
Wednesday, 22 October 2025 / Albury Wodonga Health
Each year on 14 October, health services around the world come together to celebrate Allied Health Professions Day, recognising the incredible contribution of allied health professionals to patient care and community wellbeing.
First held in England in 2018, the day has quickly grown into an international event that brings together the allied health community under a shared message of collaboration and care.
This year’s theme, “Stronger Together,” highlights the power of multidisciplinary teamwork, where allied health professionals work side-by-side with medical, nursing and community partners to design and implement a comprehensive healthcare system that truly wraps around the consumer.
To mark the occasion, AWH held a luncheon across the Albury and Wodonga campuses and Albury Community Health, giving teams the chance to connect, celebrate and reflect on the impact of their work.
Our allied health professionals play a vital role in improving health outcomes, independence and quality of life for patients across every stage of care, from hospital wards to community health programs.
They are university qualified practitioners with specialised expertise in preventing, diagnosing and treating a range of conditions and illnesses and include; Social Workers, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists, Dietitians, Podiatrists, Exercise Physiologists, Psychologists, Medical Radiation, and Pharmacists.
We would also like to acknowledge our amazing Allied Health Assistants who are an integral part of our teams across the inpatient and community settings. Allied Health Practitioners are members of many of the teams within AWH including the Aboriginal Liaison officers, Disability Liaison Officers, ASET, Health Coordination, Mental Health and Alcohol & Other Drugs, as well as leadership roles across the organisation.
Thank you to all our allied health staff for your dedication, teamwork and commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of our community. You truly make AWH stronger together.
