Update Friday 3 October 2025
Construction Zone – Northeast Building
For the last few weeks, the Project Team (NSW HI, Hansen Yunken, Johnstaff) and AWH Staff have worked together to develop the best possible traffic management plan for our campus to be implemented for the duration of the construction of the Northeast Building.
The detailed planning undertaken has focussed on ensuring patient, staff, and visitor safety remain our primary focus coupled with uninterrupted delivery of all our services.
Last week, we advised that the changes outlined below would come into effect from Wednesday 1 October. However, these changes will now come into operation from Thursday 9 October.
Update Thursday 25 Sep 2025
Construction Zone – Northeast Building
As part of our commitment to safety and service continuity, detailed planning has been undertaken to ensure smooth and secure access for everyone during the construction of the Northeast Building.
From Wednesday, 1 October 2025 through to October 2026, the following changes will be in place:
Parking: To accommodate the construction zone, parking will shift to the full length of the East Street verge. This change will increase the number of available spaces.
Construction Fencing: Fencing will be relocated to define the new construction zone. Please remain alert and cautious when near this area.
Pedestrian Access: Foot traffic will be redirected to new footpaths along East Street, ensuring safe access to the hospital.
Hospital Entrance: Entry to the main hospital will be via a newly established pathway, designed to maintain safe and easy access for all.
Traffic Management: Traffic controllers will be stationed at the carpark entry to guide vehicles and ensure efficient flow. Please follow their directions—they’re here to support your safety and the success of the project.
NSW HI, Hansen Yunken, Johnstaff and AWH have collaborated closely to minimise disruption and prioritise safety for patients, staff, and visitors alike. All services will continue uninterrupted throughout the construction period.
