Pride Month at AWH
Friday, 6 June 2025 / Albury Wodonga Health
20 June
As part of our celebrations for Pride Month, ‘Wear your Colors Day’ is an opportunity to have some fun whilst honoring the deep history of the Rainbow Flag.
Join us in this show of support, by wearing your colors from the rainbow on Friday 27 June. Email your photos to AWH.Communications@awh.org.au for a chance to make it into the AWH socials pages.
June is significant to the LGBTIQA+ rights movement. The Stonewall riots, a catalyst for activism, took place in June 1969 in New York City. Just under a decade later, Australia's first Pride March took place on 24 June 1978 in Sydney.
Throughout the month AWH will run a number of activities as part of our celebration and we encourage you all to get ready for Friday June 27th, our 3rd year of ‘Wear your Colors Day’! Stay tuned to the Weekly Dose for more information.
Pride Month is more than celebrating the LGBTIQA+ community. It is also about taking action to build a safe and respectful workplace and health service for all LGBTIQA+ members of the community. As one of those actions, AWH are seeking Expressions of Interest from staff who would like to be part of an AWH allyship group. This group would be an important conduit for the voice of the LGBTIQA+ community into the AWH Diversity and Inclusion Committee. If you’re interested in taking part email Dale Smith (dale.smith@awh.org.au) at People and Culture with your details and a short note about why you are interested in joining.
