Short Notice Accreditation Assessment

Albury Wodonga Health underwent a Short Notice NSQHS 2.1 Accreditation Assessment in November 2025, followed by a final assessment in February 2026. The initial assessment identified one Not Met action and multiple actions rated Met with Recommendation across several standards, primarily relating to healthcare records, workforce training and performance review processes, infection prevention and control, clinical documentation, and aspects of comprehensive and medication care. In response, AWH implemented a coordinated and organisation‑wide improvement program within a compressed remediation timeframe, demonstrating strong leadership, clinical engagement, and a mature safety and quality culture.
The final assessment confirmed that all previously Not Met actions were addressed and the majority of recommendations were resolved, with assessors noting substantial improvements in mandatory training governance, medication management, hand hygiene, patient identification practices, comprehensive care planning, and infection prevention auditing.
A small number of actions remain rated Met with Recommendation, reflecting ongoing work to further embed improvements in areas such as clinical documentation systems, senior medical staff performance development compliance, and multidisciplinary documentation. The Clinical Trials Governance Framework assessment was undertaken as a maturity assessment, with AWH demonstrating progression to a “growing systems” maturity rating and clear improvement in governance capability, oversight structures, workforce training, and risk management since the previous assessment, supporting the safe and ethical conduct of clinical trials within the organisation. Full three‑year accreditation was awarded across all assessed facilities.
