Weekly Dose

This program has been designed for frontline health workers who have been identified as being at a high risk of experiencing OVA in the workplace.

The training program will be delivered by a Senior Consultant Psychologist from Communicorp. Participants will explore and apply an evidence-informed model for de-escalation that promotes a consistent approach to the prevention and management of OVA in high-risk settings. Through case studies and discussion, the session aims to support participants to develop and maintain their competence to apply de-escalation techniques and manage aggressive and violent behaviour in the workplace.

Key learning outcomes:

  • Understand the importance of taking a safety-first approach
  • Develop capability in the use of static and dynamic risk assessments to identify triggers and warning signs relating to aggressive service user behaviour
  • Increase confidence and competence to apply proven de-escalation strategies and techniques to manage aggressive behaviour
  • Understand key techniques for responding to OVA during and after an incident
