What is Pulmonary Rehabilitation?

An education and exercise program for people with a chronic lung disease.

This can include participating in a group class or individual sessions.  The program's aim is to develop the skills of participants to manage their lung condition and stay well. 

Research has shown that participating in a pulmonary rehabilitation program can reduce feelings of breathlessness and fatigue, while improve confidence to manage ones lung condition. It  may help to increase participation in physical and social activities, and  meet other people with similar conditions and share management strategies and improve patients quality of life.

The program involves a multidisciplinary team approach which may include Physiotherapists, Exercise Physiologists, Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, Dieticians, Pharmacists and Speech Pathologists.
