After 33 years, Albury Wodonga Health Director of Pharmacy Leo Mason is retiring today.

Leo joined AWH in July 1990 as Wodonga Hospital’s only pharmacist and technician following on from stints in Melbourne and Shepparton.

Back then, the department had just received its first-ever computer, and he led the charge of transitioning the system from paper to computer-based dispensing.

Since stepping into his role as Director of Pharmacy following the cross-border hospital merger, the department has grown extensively and now employs 32 staff.

Leo’s retirement plans include travel around Australia, starting tomorrow (Saturday) in a Toyota Hiace van, visiting all the national parks and beaches around the country.

Leo plans to travel for the next 12 months, and then who knows after that…
