Remembering Dr Lucie Shanahan
Thursday, 30 October 2025 / Albury Wodonga Health
Albury Wodonga Health is deeply saddened by the passing of Dr Lucie Shanahan, a much-loved and highly respected member of our team for 25 years.
Dr Shanahan was a leader of great integrity, wisdom and compassion. Over her distinguished career, she made an extraordinary contribution to health care across our region - serving most recently as Executive Director of Public Health, Mental Health and Wellbeing, and Chief Allied Health Officer.
Lucie’s leadership was defined by authenticity and kindness. She was calm, principled and deeply committed to improving outcomes for the people and communities we serve. Her impact was felt across every part of our organisation, through her leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic, her work to strengthen mental health and public health services, and her steadfast support for her colleagues.
Beyond her professional achievements, Lucie will be remembered for her warmth, generosity and quiet strength. She led with empathy, listened with care, and brought people together with a shared sense of purpose.
Lucie’s legacy lives on in the services she helped build, the people she inspired and the values she modelled every day.
Our deepest sympathies go to her partner Mark, her mother Anne, her brothers Matt and Tim, and all who loved her.
In recognition of the deep respect and admiration Lucie inspired across our organisation, Albury Wodonga Health will hold a memorial to celebrate her life and extraordinary contribution to health care for our region. Details will be shared with our community once arrangements are finalised.
We are grateful for her leadership, her friendship and her enormous contribution to Albury Wodonga Health and our community.
She will be greatly missed - and always remembered.
