Last night, Albury Wodonga Health (AWH) proudly celebrated the exceptional achievements of our 2024 Graduate Nurse and Midwife Program cohort.

Surrounded by their loved ones and supported by colleagues and mentors, graduates were joined by Bill Appleby (CEO), Jonathan Green (AWH Board Chair) and Kim White (Executive Director of Quality, Governance and Patient Experience, Chief of Nursing and Midwifery) at a heartwarming ceremony where nurses were celebrated not only for completing their graduate year, but for stepping into their profession with compassion, resilience, and unshakable dedication.

Among the many outstanding graduates, special recognition was given to Registered Nurse Graduate, Lillian Wells, who was named 2024 Graduate of the Year, for her exemplary performance across clinical placements, adaptability in high-pressure settings, and dedication to patient-centred care. Her contribution serves as an inspiring example of clinical excellence and compassionate care.

Also honoured for their passion and professionalism were our 2024 Recognition of Excellence recipients: Sharne Van Corler, Aimee Francis, and Akeema Wevers. These remarkable nurses were acknowledged for their ability to go above and beyond, and demonstrating outstanding dedication to patient-centred care.

We are also proud to share that 80% of Registered Nurse graduates and 100% of Enrolled Nurse graduates that completed the 2024 Graduate Nurse Program have secured ongoing employment with Albury Wodonga Health – a testament to not only capability and growth of our nurses but to the culture of support and opportunity that AWH nurtures.

We wish all this year's graduates the best of luck, and we look forward to seeing you all in the corridors of AWH for years to come.
