One month since cancer inpatient and day oncology services transitioned to a publicly operated model, Albury Wodonga Health is proud to mark this important milestone and reaffirm our commitment to delivering high-quality, accessible cancer care for our region at the Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre (AWRCC).

Our message to patients and the community remains clear: the Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre remains open to everyone, care is continuing as usual, and our teams are here to support every person facing cancer.

Behind this milestone is an extraordinary collective effort. Teams across clinical, operational and corporate services have worked side-by-side to ensure services continued smoothly for patients and their families with one shared priority: patient safety, continuity of care, and confidence in the service from day one.

The AWRCC continues to welcome, support and treat both public and private patients. Every patient is cared for based on their clinical needs, with all patients able to access the full range of services including inpatient care, day chemotherapy, radiotherapy, haematology, pharmacy services and the Wellness Centre – under one integrated public health service.

AWH Chief Operating Officer Linda Hudec said the one-month milestone is a moment to recognise the dedication of staff and the strength of the public health system in supporting regional cancer care.

“This transition strengthens access to safe, high-quality and equitable cancer care for our region,” Ms Hudec said. “Whether a patient chooses to be treated as a public or private patient, they can be confident their care will be supported by Albury Wodonga Health through an integrated, sustainable and locally delivered service”

Planning is now underway for the next phase of service growth, including the expansion of public cancer outpatient services later this year; reinforcing AWH’s long-term role in delivering comprehensive, high-quality cancer care for the Albury-Wodonga community.
