We are excited to announce the upcoming implementation of Baret, an innovative role-based communication system that will transform how we share patient information and collaborate across our organisation.

What is Baret?

Baret is designed to deliver the right message to the right role at the right time.  Unlike traditional individual-based communication methods such as pagers, SMS, Microsoft Teams messages, or WhatsApp, Baret ensures that critical updates and instructions are directed to the appropriate role and responsibility within the organisation. This role-based approach enhances clarity, reduces delays, and supports safer, more efficient workflows.

As part of this implementation, Baret will replace pagers, SMS, and WhatsApp for all communication types, with one exception: MET (Medical Emergency Team) calls will continue to operate via the existing paging system.

Why This Matters

  • Precision: Eliminates unnecessary noise by targeting communication to roles.
  • Efficiency: Speeds up decision-making and reduces delays.
  • Safety: Enhances patient safety through timely, accurate information flow.   All information shared on Baret forms part of the patient’s clinical record.

Implementation Timeline

This is a highly time-sensitive project with a Go Live date in early February 2026, supported by a focused 12-week implementation window. Your engagement and collaboration are essential to ensure success and will include awareness and training sessions.  The implementation team have commenced working with key clinicians, as identified by the Clinical Co-Directors, to configure the system.  We will reach out with regular updates and training times over the coming 12 weeks.

Thank you for your commitment to innovation and excellence. Together, we will make communication smarter, faster, and role driven across all clinical services at AWH.
