Key Dates:
- Albury ED Go Live with this update is scheduled to for Wednesday 29th November 2023 at 7:00am. There may be temporary disruptions to system access, so we appreciate your patience and cooperation on the day. After go-live, the EDIS project team will assist the transition to the new Albury Emergency Department on 14 February 2024.
- Wodonga ED to be confirmed. Current processes will remain.
Impact on Operations: While we are working diligently to minimise any inconvenience, it's essential to note that there might be temporary downtime during the upgrade. We have taken measures to schedule the upgrade during off-peak hours to mitigate disruptions as much as possible and have had key stakeholder input in the planning of this rollout. From 7am on 29th November patients in the Albury Emergency Department will no longer be tracked on the ED E-Whiteboard, and will instead be tracked in EDIS V28 via the tracking screen.
Support: The EDIS team will be available throughout the upgrade process to address any issues or concerns you may encounter. Please don't hesitate to reach out to the EDIS Team for assistance by logging a ticket with the IT Helpdesk.
EDIS Background Information
The EDIS project objectives are to:
-
Update the current version of EDIS to a supported version to mitigate the risk of lack of vendor support for a critical application.
-
Improve the resilience of EDIS by providing the ability to apply and test new versions and releases of EDIS software regularly as they are released.
-
Configure EDIS to support both the current and new Albury emergency departments to implement best practice clinical processes using out-of-box functionality.
-
Change from using NSW codes to Victorian DoH codes to improve the ability to provide compliance reports to Vic Health and share information with internal stakeholders.
-
Increase the number of licences to allow all users to access EDIS simultaneously without delay and reduce the reliance on the ED Whiteboard to mitigate risk of using duplicated data and clinical risks associated with locating and treating patients.
-
Significantly improve the performance, availability, and reliability of EDIS consistent with a critical 24/7 application essential to patient safety.
-
Significantly improve the ability to share information in real real-time EDIS and other systems by using the industry standard messaging standards and protocols.
-
Meet Victorian Government security and privacy standards, to mitigate risks of unauthorised access, system interruption, ICT failure or cyber-attack.
EDIS Version 28 was released by the vendor on Friday 29 September 2023 (with the new tracking screen) and was installed and tested in the DEV/TST environment for internal testing, prior to installation in the Training environment. The product has been thoroughly tested by the vendor’s development team and by our Dedalus functional consultant.
User Acceptance Testing was successful, the final UAT round was held on 19 October 2023. The training environment will has since been available as a playpen to all EDIS users.
End-user training has been completed, with staff participating in training sessions over the past 4 weeks.
Testing of the Victorian Government compliance reports has been successful. The focus will turn to testing the NSW Bio Surveillance reports and testing the daily data extract that provides the data for the Business Intelligence and Performance reporting.
We have also commenced detailed transition/go-live planning to ensure a successful outcome.
We look forward to your active participation in the launch of the new and improved EDIS.
