A significant milestone in healthcare innovation has been reached, as Albury Wodonga Health introduces digital preparation list management, using the Statewide VicKey platform. This approach is redefining patient care by streamlining waitlist management and enhancing communication.

Available from 10 December 2025, the new waitlist management approach ensures patients on planned surgery waitlists receive SMS messages asking them to confirm their ongoing availability for their procedure. With this initiative, patients can affirm their waitlist status, empowering them to actively engage in their healthcare journey.

AWH Chief Operating Officer, Linda Hudec, said, “The implementation of VicKey places Albury Wodonga Health at the forefront of innovation in patient-centred care.”

“By leveraging digital technology to streamline waitlist management, we are enhancing efficiency and ensuring patients have greater control over their healthcare experience."

AWH Director, Perioperative and Surgical Services, Helen Roberts-Thompson shared, “VicKey represents a pivotal shift in how we prioritise patient safety and surgical readiness.”

“The platform minimises administrative delays, enabling our staff to focus more on delivering compassionate, high-quality care when our patients need it most."

AWH Nurse Unit Manager, Patient Support Unit, Lucy Cue remarked, “This initiative is about bringing healthcare into the digital age in a way that makes sense for both patients and providers."

“The new automated system reduces preparation list duplication and delays, ensuring patients receive timely and well-coordinated care."

Following the successful implementation of Module 1 of VicKey, Albury Wodonga Health will continue to explore further enhancements to better support patients on preparation lists.

VicKey represents a groundbreaking advancement in planned surgery management, reinforcing our commitment to high quality, patient-centred care.
