Graduate Nurse Program - Mental Health

Our Mental Health Graduate Nurse Program is a comprehensive two-year journey designed to nurture your growth within a supportive learning environment. This program is crafted to develop your skills and confidence as a Mental Health Clinician, and with opportunities to work across the AWH Mental Health and Wellbeing Service, will ensure you become a valued member of our healthcare team.

You’ll be provided with flexibility (a four-day week or equivalent) so you can enjoy life outside of work, and you may be eligible for support to relocate to the Albury Wodonga region.

Experience diverse clinical environment through rotations which may include:

• Continuing Care Teams (CCT)
• Acute Community Intervention Services
• Prevention and Recovery Centre in Wodonga
• Infant, Child and Youth Mental Health
• Older Persons Mental Health
• Psychosocial Recovery Units in Beechworth and Wodonga
• Acute Inpatient Units in Albury and Wangaratta.
• Psychogeriatric Unit in Beechworth

These rotations provide broad exposure to different aspect of mental health nursing, enhancing your development and education. 

The graduate program runs for two years, with opportunities for permanent employment upon successful completion. We are dedicated to investing in the next generation of health professionals, and endeavour to find suitable permanent positions for successful graduates.

AWH has access to the Regional Mental Health Workforce Incentive program. The Incentive program is designed by the Department of Health to support the attraction, relocation, and retention of mental health and alcohol and other drug (AOD) workers to Area Mental Health and Wellbeing Services across rural and regional Victoria.

Candidates relocating may be eligible for grants to cover expenses such as a removalist, travel fees, accommodation costs, school fees, etc. For a more detailed understanding of the incentive program get in touch with our Workforce Navigator and arrange a one-on-one session to explore your options.

To apply for the AWH Mental Health Graduate Nurse Program, follow these steps:

STEP ONE

You must register through the Graduate Nursing and Midwifery Program (GNMP) computer match system, create an account, and then apply.

Watch this video to follow the application steps, selecting the Albury Wodonga Health Mental Health Graduate Nurse program as your top preferred Match. 

STEP TWO

Once you’ve completed your Match via GNMP, Apply directly to Albury Wodonga Health via our online recruitment portal. 

Please prepare the following documents for your application:

• Cover letter detailing your interest (max. one page).
• Resume (max. two pages).
• Two summative (final) clinical appraisals including one from a Mental Health Placement.
• Academic transcript.
• Contact details for two professional referees (phone and email).
  

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

• AHPRA registration prior to commencement.
• Completion of the undergraduate course within the previous 12 months
• Not currently in a graduate program
• Registered with Graduate Nursing and Midwifery Program (GNMP) allocation & placement service.
