Wodonga-based company, Premier Building & Construction (PBC) has been awarded the tender to complete pre-construction works for Albury Wodonga Health’s (AWH) multimillion-dollar Albury Emergency Department upgrade.

With over 100 years experience in the Australian building industry, PBC is an award-winning company with an impressive portfolio of commercial, government, and health projects.

As part of the pre-construction works, PBC will be constructing a new staff room between the current operating theatres and Emergency Department. Complete with a full kitchen, dining, lounge, and outdoor space, this room is a vital component of the upgrade and will allow AWH to accommodate increased staff numbers once the new Emergency Department is operational.

General Manager Anthony Baker said the PBC team was grateful for the opportunity to once again partner with AWH, having previously worked on staff facility upgrades at Wodonga Hospital.

“We recognise the real benefits and value these types of projects will have long-term for the entire community, particularly during these challenging times.”

This initial phase of the project is due to be completed in December 2021, before construction on the new Emergency Department commences in early 2022.

Plans are in place to minimise interruptions to service delivery during the pre-construction period, with AWH in daily communication with the PBC team.

Staff will continue to deliver emergency care through the Albury ED with no disruptions.
