AHPs Day was first observed in England in 2018 and has since grown into an international celebration and gathering of the allied health professional community. The goal is to recognise Allied Health Professionals' contributions to patient care and population health, as well as to provide an opportunity to get to know and celebrate our skills and achievements with other Allied Health Professionals.

The allied health workforce accounts for nearly one-third of the country's health-care workforce and provides over 200 million health-care services each year. It is made up of a diverse group of university-trained practitioners who frequently work in multidisciplinary teams across a range of settings.

At the Albury Wodonga Health Service, we have a wide range of allied health professionals who specialise in preventing, diagnosing, and treating a range of illnesses and conditions. With the overall objective of maximising a person's capacity to live well and independently, our focus is on patient recovery, rehabilitation, and reintegration into the community.

We represent disciplines across:

  • Occupational Therapy
  • Physiotherapy
  • Speech Pathology
  • Social Work
  • Dietetics
  • Exercise Physiologist
  • Podiatry
  • Radiology
  • Pharmacy
  • Clinical Psychology

Our vision is to be a leader in allied health best practise by developing collaborative and innovative approaches to allied health service delivery, education and research, workforce strategy, and capacity building.

On Allied Health Professional Day, let’s celebrate who we are, appreciate our skills and our impact on care and support within the community, whilst inspiring our future workforce to ensure continued growth into the future.
