The year 2020 has been chosen by the World Health Organisation as the International Year of the Nurse and Midwife.

This was in honour of the 200 year anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth - a pioneer in nursing.

Nurses and Midwives are key to patient-centred care and quality health outcomes for all our patients at Albury Wodonga Health, and are central to the history of Albury and Wodonga Hospitals and community-based care in our region.

Nurses at Albury Base Hospital

Nurses Graduation Day

In November, we are partnering with Albury Library Museum to showcase some of the nurses and midwives of our past to create a digital exhibition of images, stories and memorabilia, titled Nurse on Call.

This digital exhibition will accompany an installation at Albury Library Museum titled “Call the Midwife” which specifically looks at midwifery care in our region.

WANT TO CONTRIBUTE?
If you know of any nurses or midwives in the Albury Wodonga region, who trained or worked at Albury Hospital or Wodonga Hospital, or if you have any information to share, please get in touch by emailing our librarian, Anna Griffith at library@awh.org.au.

We look forward to sharing our digital exhibition in late November 2020.
