A walk on Country with Wiradjuri leader and storyteller Aunty Ruth Davys has given the Albury Campus Redevelopment team a unique insight into the connections between place and people, and how that can be reflected in the new hospital design.

Aunty Ruth said designing a ‘building that flows’ would create a continuation of Country.

“Country supports, provides, it cares for us,” Aunty Ruth said. “If we can replicate or produce anything that looks like country inside as well, people will feel ‘wow - it’s a welcoming, safe space caring for my health needs’.”

The project team will use the experience from the Yindyamarra Sculpture Walk to help shape the design of the new hospital and ensure the building is culturally safe and respectful.
