Rural Allied Health Team

Rural Allied Health Team

Rural Allied Health Team (RAHT) provides therapy services to people who are frail or who have long-term health conditions which affect how they live their lives. The team supports clients and carers to remain involved in their communities while living safely and confidently. The types of services provided will depend on the clients’ needs and goals. RAHT can provide assessment and treatment to maintain functional abilities, prescription of equipment and home modifications where required, and carer education. Most RAHT services are provided in the home.

Eligibility: Eligibility does not depend on age or income. Clients must be frail or disabled to the extent that it is affecting the ability to manage daily tasks at home. Clients must live in one of the following areas:

  • City of Wodonga
  • Shire of Towong
  • Shire of Indigo
  • Kiewa Valley

Services Provided:

  • Allied Health Assistant
  • Continence Nurse Advisor
  • Dietitian
  • Occupational Therapist
  • Physiotherapist
  • Podiatrist
  • Speech Pathologist
  • Social Worker

Podiatry services are provided out of clinics at

  • Albury Wodonga Health – Wodonga Campus
  • Tallangatta Health Service
  • Upper Murray Health and Community Services (Corryong)
  • Walwa Bush Nursing Centre

Referral to the Rural Allied Health Team: We accept referrals from

  • Doctors
  • Health professionals and community services
  • Clients, a family member or carer.

If you would like to request a service for yourself, there are 2 pathways:

  1. If you are 65 or over, call the My Aged Care hotline ph 1800 200 422. You will be asked questions over the phone to help work out your needs and care arrangements – this takes at least ten minutes. If you are an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander you can access this service if you are 50 years of age or older.
  2. If you are under 65 years of age, please contact us directly by calling ph 02 6051 7400. Intake Office staff will need to spend some time getting a clear idea of your needs and issues.
