Consumer input for Albury's new Emergency Department

Consumer representatives are being sought to join a dedicated panel tasked with providing feedback on the early designs for Albury Wodonga Health’s new emergency department at Albury.
Up to eight community representatives are needed to share their feedback on the design of patient areas, amenities and workspaces, as well as the overall look and feel of the proposed floorplan.
Albury Wodonga Health (AWH) Executive Director of Partnerships and Planning, Janet Chapman said it is an exciting step in the project.
“AWH is part of the fabric of our community and we want to ensure that our new emergency department caters for the needs of everybody who uses it,” Ms Chapman said.
“We’re really keen to hear from community members about their personal experience in accessing emergency care, and how we can best design the new ED to make the experience as positive as possible.
“The feedback collected from this dedicated consumer group will help to inform the detailed design phase and support the project's ongoing engagement with staff and clinicians.
“Our goal is to end up with a design that facilitates person centred care and one that is respectful of privacy and the cultural needs of our community.”
Ms Chapman said there will be further opportunity for the community to take part, especially when the project enters detailed design in early 2021.
The $36 million redevelopment aims to meet the needs of the growing population of the region, allowing more people to be treated while improving patient flow, safety and quality of care.
When complete, the overall number of available treatment spaces will increase significantly to a total of 58 and will include separate areas for children, “fast track”, and short stay. The project is expected to be completed by 2022.
