Chronic Pain Management Program at AWH offers a regional multidisciplinary chronic pain management program based at the Wodonga Campus.
The Mission Statement is to provide timely, evidence-based intervention to individuals with chronic pain conditions which meets best practice and uses a multidisciplinary and consumer-focussed approach.
The Goals are to : 1. improve individuals’ functional performance and quality of life2. modify the perception of and response to pain3. enhance self-management and reduce reliance on the health care system4. promote appropriate use of medication and reduce substance dependency
Selection Criteria: All patients with non-malignant chronic pain are eligible for referral to the program including public and compensable patients.
Geographical Area: The program is based at the AWH Wodonga Campus and serves a regional population of approximately 600,000 in Northeast Victoria and Southwest New South Wales.
Cost: The program is provided a no cost to public patients. Compensable patients are generally funded by their Workers Compensation or Third Party Insurer.
Program Components: The program is a three week residential cognitive-behavioural modification and physical reactivation program based on the bio psychosocial model of pain and conducted by an interdisciplinary team comprised of:

The Referral Process: patients can be referred by their local doctor, specialist, physiotherapist, psychologist, vocational rehabilitation provider or other health professional.
