What is Palliative Care?
Palliative care 'palliates' or relieves pain & distress for individuals living with a life threatening illness. It aims to comfort not cure & in doing so improves quality of life.

How is Palliative Care delivered in the Hume region?
There is a central office in Wangaratta which oversees the provision of palliative care in the Hume region.
Five sites, coordinated by clinical nurse specialists, are located throughout the region. They take referrals, assess patients and coordinate care plans.
Where is Palliative Care delivered?
The care can be provided at a site that is best suited to the patient's needs and wishes. For example, at home, in a hospital or nursing home/hostel.
