Options of Care

Albury Wodonga Health - Wodonga Campus (AWHWC) offers the following choices for your antenatal care and delivery.

If you are insured you may have your care provided by your family General Practitioner (GP), or a specialist Obstetrician.

Care is also provided by the hospitals' Midwife Care Program.

For uninsured patients, the Doctor of the day provides the care on your admission to hospital. The doctor of the day is a General Practioner who regularly practices at AWHWC.

If your family GP does not deliver at AWHWC, he/she will refer or recommend you to a GP or Obstetrician that does. Your family GP may continue to provide or share your antenatal care.

If you need to be cared for by an Obstetrician you will need a referral from your family GP or your GP Obstetrics Provider.

Please make an appointment early in your pregnancy to see the Doctor of your choice, who will arrange any tests that are required.

The Midwife Care Program provides antenatal and delivery care for women expecting a normal pregnancy and birth. An Obstetrics General Practitioner (GP) will assess your health and pregnancy. If no problems are found, you may choose to be referred to the Midwife Care Program.

Should problems arise during your pregnancy or labour your midwife will transfer your care back to the GP Obstetrics Provider.

Following delivery and discharge from hospital, your GP Obstetrics Provider will return your care to your usual GP.
