The Hand Therapy and Upper Limb Clinic

The Hand Therapy and Upper Limb Clinic

Do you have any difficulty using your hands to do your daily activities?

Do you have any of the following problems with your hands?

  • weakness
  • reduced movement/stiffness
  • swelling
  • pain
  • shakes
  • burns
  • hand injury/surgery
  • change in muscle tone

If the answer is yes, then you may be interested in the Community Rehabilitation Centre Hand Clinic.

We provide assessment and treatment to clients with hand/upper limb problems including:

  • hand injury
  • burns
  • nerve injury
  • tendon repair
  • fracture/orthopaedic problems
  • pain/RSD/overuse syndrome
  • oedema
  • neurological conditions
  • arthritis

The Hand Clinic is designed to provide assessment of hand/upper limb problems and develop a short-term individualised therapy program.

The clinic aims to:

  • improve and/or maintain your hand/upper limb function
  • educate you on how to monitor and look after your hand/upper limb problems

It is run by the Community Rehabilitation Centre Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy staff.

If you need individual treatment, eg, scar management, splinting, this can be arranged through the clinic as well!

You can refer yourself to the clinic, however, we will need some medical information from your doctor before you start and will readily follow this up for you.

Please note: if you are wishing to attend post hand surgery, a doctors referral is required.

Please contact the Community Rehabilitation Centre Occupational Therapist on (02) 6051 7400 to book in for an appointment or to just find out more about the Hand Clinic.
