Cardiac Rehabilitation Program

Cardiac Rehabilitation Program

The Cardiac Rehabilitation Program provides a comprehensive program for people recovering from heart attack or heart surgery. It is run by a team of professionals and is designed to assist people who have had a cardiac event (& their carers) in managing their condition and maintaining or improving activity levels. It does this by providing education and skills which help to reduce the risk of further cardiac events and achieve an optimum level of health.

The Program

8 weeks course consisting of 2 sessions a week - Tuesday and Friday mornings.

It consists of two major components:

Education and Exercise.

At the end of the program you should be able to:

  1. Return to your level of activity preceding illness, or as high a level as possible given your particular condition.
  2. Identify risk factors which may have contributed to your cardiovascular disease.
  3. Be able to identify strategies that may alter at least one modifiable risk factor.
  4. Achieve at least one lifestyle change important for your overall health
  5. Improve overall feeling of physical and mental well-being.

To participate in the program we require a referral from a Specialist Physician, General Practitioner or hospital.
