Thank you for giving unwell children the greatest gift this Christmas, Murray River Police District support

The Border’s generosity was on full display today as a sleigh-load of gifts rolled into Albury Hospital, bringing Christmas magic to children spending the holidays in hospital.
Today, NSW Police Force officers from the Murray River Police District, joined by the Australian Defence Force, Victoria Police and Albury Wodonga Health, delivered hundreds of presents to our Paediatric Ward as part of the 2025 Murray River Police District Children’s Hospital Christmas Appeal.
Since 2019, this heart-warming initiative has brought festive cheer to young patients spending Christmas in hospital, and this year was no exception, with over 600 gifts donated.
From colourful craft kits and storybooks to Lego sets, travel games and cuddly toys, the mountain of gifts has been distributed to babies, children and teenagers across the ward, helping make hospital stays a little brighter for them and their families this festive season.
Albury Wodonga Health CEO, Bill Appleby said, "This appeal is a shining example of what can be achieved when our community comes together.”
“The generosity of local businesses, the commitment of NSW Police Force, the Australian Defence Force and Victoria Police, as well as the support from families across the region, make a real difference for children who need a little extra joy this Christmas,” he said.
“Albury Wodonga Health are proud to stand alongside the Appeal to bring hope and happiness to young patients and their families during what can be a challenging time."
Albury Wodonga Health Nurse Unit Manager, Paediatric Ward, Samantha Peet said, "For children spending the festive period in hospital, these gifts mean so much more than toys.”
