Receptionist/Clerk - Emergency Department

PART-TIME

Minimum of 80 hours per four week roster period available, applications for part there of will be considered.

The Emergency Department operates a 24 hour, 365 days of the year service with receptionist/clerical support.  Therefore, a reasonable degree of flexibility with availability is required.

This is a busy position that requires excellent:

  • communication
  • time management and
  • organisational skills.

Applicants need to be able to demonstrate a high level of ability in:

  • computing and
  • working well within a multi-disciplinary team environment.

The successful applicant will need to be able to work well under pressure.  Knowledge of Medical Terminology would be a distinct advantage.  A commitment to undertaking mandatory training is essential.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • Ability to work within a team structure in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Demonstrated competence in dealing with the public and sound communication skills
  • Proven clerical/administration ability with excellent attention to detail, keyboarding and computer skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of health and safety issues and of OH &S legislation as it relates to “Employee” and “Employer” responsibilities.
  • Ability to develop and implement initiatives of continuous quality improvement within the Employee’s designated area of work with a demonstrated customer focussed approach to service delivery.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional development when required and the willingness to participate in Department/Ward Performance Appraisal Programs.
  • Awareness and understanding of Infection Control principles as they relate to the position’s designated area of work.
