Staff Development Coordinator (SDC)

Wodonga Hospital

Relief Position (72 hour fortnight) September 20th 2010 - October 3rd 2011

 

Albury Wodonga Health (AWH) is a new regional health service that integrates the clinical services of Wodonga Hospital and Albury Base Hospital.  AWH is committed to excellence in clinical care and service delivery, and is establishing new integrated clinical service streams that span both major inpatient facilities and link with community based services.  This position will provide the opportunity to be involved in the implementation of strategies to integrate staff training and development across the Albury and Wodonga facilities.

 

Wodonga Hospital offers an extensive range of medical, surgical, obstetric and community services and is located in picturesque North East Victoria.  Wodonga forms part of the Albury/Wodonga growth centre that collectively has a population in the order of 100,000 and serves a surrounding population of approximately 250,000.  Albury/Wodonga offers a comprehensive range of facilities, including two universities, growing regional transport and industrial activity, varied health and health-related services and ready access to the snow fields, waterways and the surrounding wine growing areas.

 

The SDC works in collaboration with the Executive and Senior Employees in relation to delivering educational and professional development services throughout AWH-Wodonga Hospital.  The SDC reports to the Director of Human Resources.

 

The SDC position exists to plan, lead, implement and manage education staff and resources to ensure the efficient and cost effective delivery of relevant, innovative education and training programs for clinical and non clinical employees.  The SDC is responsible for the following:  staff development through education and training, clinical post graduate nursing courses in conjunction with tertiary institutions, coordination of the undergraduate student clinical placements and the hospital wide orientation program.

Salary and conditions of employment will be in accordance with the relevant Health Industry award (equivalent to Grade 5 Vic Nurses Award) and access to salary packaging is available.
