Wodonga is a rapidly growing rural city in excess of 30,000 people situated in scenic and historic N.E. Victoria. It forms part of the Albury/Wodonga Growth Centre which collectively offers a comprehensive range of Medical, Educational and Recreational facilities, including 2 university campuses and ready access to the snow fields, Lake Hume and the wine growing area of Rutherglen and District.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced registered midwives to manage the enthusiastic teams in our Maternity Unit. The Maternity Unit is inclusive of Birth Suite, Nursery, Antenatal, Postnatal and Ambulatory Programs including (Domiciliary, Midwife Care Program and Antenatal Education in our fully ACHS Accredited facility. This position may be subject to changes in the future as further development of the Maternity services occurs at AWH.
Selection Criteria:
Mandatory:
· Nurses Board of Victoria Registered Nurse Division one with midwifery endorsement or eligible for same
· Tertiary qualifications or working towards same that are appropriate to this management role
Preferred:
· Demonstrated proficiency in managing the complex demands of health service programs
· Demonstrated ability to provide leadership in the areas of responsibility relevant to midwifery nursing and patient care
· Demonstrated ability to provide coordination of, and to promote decision making within a cooperative and collaborative environment
· Demonstrated commitment to professional development
· Demonstrated effective communication utilising people skills to manage a team to achieve positive organisational outcomes
· Demonstrated ability to develop and implement initiatives to enable optimum standards of care and efficient resource management through:
Ĝ Quality Improvement processes relevant to the Australian Council Healthcare Standards program
Ĝ Staff Development
Ĝ Research and review processes
Ĝ Monitoring of performance and risk management
· Demonstrated sound knowledge of contemporary Human Resource Management with sound industrial relations understanding and with particular reference to Victorian Nurses Award and EBA, occupational health and safety, equal employment opportunity and anti-discrimination.
· Demonstrated proficient IT skills including data management and use of Microsoft word, excel and other program applications
