Cross-border travel to access medical care
As per Victorian Department of Health directives, cross-border community members can cross the border to access necessary goods and services, including medical care and getting a COVID-19 test.
If you have an appointment with any of Albury Wodonga Health's services we encourage you to keep it.
Your health is our priority, and we can offer phone or video consultations for many services if travel is not possible.
Please contact us if you need any help in accessing care.
Advice for pregnant women
If you need medical attention or information about your pregnancy, and it is not an emergency situation, please call our Maternity Unit in the first instance - (02) 6051 7250.
If you are pregnant and believe it is an emergency situation, please dial '000' in the first instance.
The health of the community is our highest priority, and we understand current border restrictions may cause stress for pregnant women. Our Maternity Ward will contact all expectant mothers booked to give birth in the coming weeks, to ensure they are armed with up-to-date information on services and how to best manage travel.
Travel delay advice
We are asking patients to be aware of travel delays, and to give themselves adequate time to attend appointments.
Our services remain in full operation, and we encourage the community to make their health a priority and not cancel any bookings or avoid seeking support when needed.
If you are concerned about travel or physically attending an appointment, Albury Wodonga Health offers Telehealth appointments as alternative stay-at-home health care.
To access this service, please check with your health care provider.
We are open, we are accessible, we are safe
Albury Wodonga Health and the Victorian Police are working together to ensure that border closures do not impact border residents’ access to local health services.
As this is our third border closure, we have appropriate networks in place to help mitigate issues arising from the implementation of border checkpoints.
The community is doing a wonderful job in keeping the region safe, abiding by COVID-19 hygiene and social distancing measures, proactively getting tested when displaying symptoms, and getting vaccinated.
